Recently, there has been a surge in the number of recalls in the automobile industry. The largest industry recall has been the Takata airbag devices. Takata airbag devices are commonly found in Honda and Acura vehicles. According to reports, there has been a 12th confirmed fatality due to a defect in the airbag. It is important to remember to monitor recalls in the automobile industry, as well as reported defects, to ensure that you or a loved one is not at risk of death or serious injury.

In July of 2017, Honda recalled 1.2 million vehicles due to improper battery seals. The 2013 to 2016 Honda Accord models had a high number of engine fires due to shorts in the battery sensors. Ordinarily, the sensors in these vehicles notify drivers that there are issues with the vehicle's battery. However, the 2013-2016 Honda Accord failed to notify drivers of an issue due to being improperly sealed against moisture, which caused foreign substances to enter the battery. This ultimately led to engine fires. To date, no injuries have been reported.

In addition, Toyota has recalled 250,000 trucks. The 2016 and 2017 Toyota Tacoma leaks oil, causing damage to the rear differential. This could potentially lead to an individual losing control of his or her vehicle, resulting in a car crash.
